When you talk about woman, there come all sorts of thoughts regarding the lipsticks, nail-polish, bangles and of course the amazing variety of jewellery.
Women are considered to be the most beautiful creation of God, yet you won’t find someone more engrossed in discovering the new ways to enhance and embellish their beauty. You may not happen to come across a lady who is without a make up or without some piece of jewellery on her. Jewellery in some form or the other is considered a must for women.
This has always been so from time immemorial. So much so, that anthropologists have found in the caves of primitive man ornamental items stones and animal bones. When there was neither any industry nor any agriculture, hunting and gathering were the only things known to man, it seems the desire of women to adorn something to enhance their looks was as intense as it is now.
With growth of civilisation many new items were developed which could satisfy women’s desire to embellish their beauty. This is the reason that in post-primitive societies we find ornaments made from different kind of stones and sea shells. Use of tattoo as part of beautification underscores the same fact that women have always been anxious to find newer ways to enhance their appearance.
In some communities, for example, in tribal communities one finds women using flowers as their ornament. Tribal women wearing necklaces and bangles made from flowers can be seen in documentaries made about them on different channels. In some other communities, bangles made from refined clay are generally adorned by women-folk. Later ornaments made from silver and bronze became popular in many parts of the world.
The jewellery of medieval period was quite different from that of today. The fact is that by that time they have become an integral part of the human civilization and also sort of social requirement.
With increasing stratification of society ornaments too got diversified. While ruling and rich classes had a craving for ornaments made from gold, the common people had to satisfy their lust with silver and bronze ornaments. It’s not a thing to wonder as yearning for ornaments has been quite natural for women, no matter which nationality or background they come from; there is always an air of consciousness about their jewellery.
Later it became a must for women to wear some ornament while going out. It seems that this social practice developed out of their desire of wearing ornaments. Over the time it took a form of social compulsion for a woman not to go out without some ornament, be it something made of silver or bronze or gold.
Undisputed fact is that for women jewellery really makes things to glow. Whenever they go for a party or function, a nice piece of jewellery is always a must to give finishing touch to their pre-party preparations. No one can deny the fact that a woman with and an attractive piece of jewellery on the face of a beautiful smiling woman looks very appropriate combination.
